As part of the 9th International Science Youth Forum (ISYF), held from 15 to 19 January 2017 in Singapore, two students from the Grenoble City International School, accompanied by their teacher, visited Singapore.
The ISYF is organized annually by Hwa Chong Institution and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), in partnership with the Singapore Ministry of Education. It brings together young international students and Nobel Prize laureates over several days. Two students of the High School of Grenoble last year won the first prize in a competition of scientific posters, with a jury composed of Nobel Prize winners. The students were also the public’s first choice.
The students were accompanied by their teacher Mr Eric Martinet, contributor of the GIANT@school programm, nano@school.
This year, the theme chosen by the ISYF was “Innovation for a Better Life”. During the scientific poster competition, the two students presented their microbial battery project, a clean and sustainable energy for the environment, in connection with the AQUAPOLE treatment plant in Grenoble. The forum was an opportunity for multicultural networking and scientific exchanges between the participants and Nobel Prize laureates. In parallel with the ISYF program, the French delegation also visited a laboratory at the National University of Singapore and the NEWater Visitor Center, a center open to the public that showcases the processes in the purification of waste water.
