Energy obviously represents a major socio-economic and environmental challenge for the coming decades. The strategic, economic and financial stakes are enormous.

GIANT has a number of significant advantages in new energy technologies and intends to become a world-class centre for expertise in the field. The laboratories and institutes address the major scientific and technological topics in the energy sector:

• production, particularly renewable energy in photovoltaics, biomass, wind and water power
• energy storage, notably using hydrogen and fuel cells.

GIANT partner institutions and companies are also working on collaborative projects that cover several thematic areas in the field of nuclear energy.

This research is underpinned by a multi-disciplinary training program.
