Grenoble INP – UGA Auditorium, Parvis Louis Néel, 38000 Grenoble
Abstract : Semiconductors are now at the heart of global digital and industrial transformation, raising major challenges in terms of technological sovereignty, economic competitiveness, and strategic security. Taiwan occupies a central position in this context, both through its industrial excellence and the density of its research, training, and innovation ecosystems, foremost among which is Hsinchu, Taiwan’s semiconductor epicenter. For its part, Grenoble Alpes, a true hub for microelectronics and Europe’s Silicon Valley, accounts for nearly a quarter of French jobs in the sector and is home to numerous cutting-edge laboratories, underscoring its strategic role on various scales. The presence of Professor KAO, President of NTHU – a world-renowned university in this field – provides unique and first-rate insight into these major issues.
This one-hour conference will include a brief presentation by W. John KAO, followed by a discussion with Yassine LAKHNECH, President of Université Grenoble Alpes, and a question-and-answer session with the audience.
