Midis by Giant Conference
24 April @ 12h30 - 13h15

Born in the wake of the creation of the French Atomic Energy Commission in 1945, the Grenoble Nuclear Research Center (CENG) was established in 1956 under the impetus of Louis Néel, with a founding vision: to foster dialogue between fundamental and technological research, innovation, and industry in service of society.
For seven decades, the center has continuously evolved. From its early focus on nuclear research to today’s challenges in digital technology, energy, health, materials, and the environment, it has anticipated scientific and technological transformations while remaining true to its pioneering spirit and culture of collaboration.
A journey through time to understand how this scientific endeavor, deeply rooted in Grenoble, helps shape innovations that impact our daily lives. Because understanding where we come from also sheds light on what we are building for the future.
About the speaker :
Pierre Caplier is a graduate of Grenoble-INP. After several international experiences (notably during the construction of the Channel Tunnel) and roles in industry in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (microelectronics and fine chemicals), he was recruited by the CEA in 2005 to take responsibility for the Facilities Department at CEA-Leti, in charge of operations and projects in cleanrooms.
He then served as the operational deputy head of the optics and photonics department, still at LETI, followed by the role of deputy director of the CEA-Irig institute, which is part of the Fundamental Research Division, where he was responsible for research support.
For the past four years, he has been the Deputy Director of the CEA Grenoble Center.
