A new model of friction… and a new paradigm?
Results from a collaboration with Michelin, within the framework of the Joint Laboratory I-TireLab (CNRS, University of Poitiers, Grenoble INP-UGA, UGA), will allow us to reflect on the nature and character of friction. We will present a new model that could change our personal understanding of friction.
This is a macroscopic model inspired by theories related to induction machines. In this presentation, we will illustrate its ability to predict friction forces in various real-world scenarios.
About the speaker
John Martinez holds a PhD in Automatic Control from Grenoble INP-UGA (2005) and has been a lecturer and researcher since 2007. His research focuses on modelling and control of mechatronic systems, mainly in application areas related to vehicle dynamics, optimal control of wind turbines, and smart electric bicycles.
